Hello, im a newbie to this standie forum, tripped over it by accident!! glad i did! Well i live in Mt Gambier and at present have 1 standie. Oscar. My partner and i love him to bits, and he is being slow usurped from me by my partner, so i can feel another standie comming soon. Ossy is 11yo ex trotter, and we are currently re mouthng him. He is doing very well and is a quick learner. He is a character and can be a bit pushy on the ground but completely changes under saddle, so a good fellow to ride, no buck bit kick or bolt, unflappable and if he does shy it is a small step to the side so that he can look at what is worrying him.

The standies tend to be quick learners and have a heart of gold and have excellent temperaments. Ive ridden other breeds through the years but have decided to specialise in standies, due to the above. My partner is a begginer and he and Ossy get along great, which i really enjoy watching. I also have another horse ( quarter pony) who is good too but will prob seller her in favour of another standie. well better go look through this forum now for all the great tips Very Happy
cheers
Lesa
